Project Description
As the President of the Art Institute student chapter of the AIGA professional design organization, I organized and presided over our Annual Snowboard Design Contest. This undertaking entailed several levels of management, over several months, requiring coordination with several individuals, companies and organizations. The result was a very successful contest, with just under 50 entries from colleges all over Colorado, a well-attended award ceremony, where the top 10 winning designs were displayed and auctioned off at a popular gallery in the Santa Fe Art District in Denver.
I headed up the all the efforts for this event, including designing the entry forms and guidelines, art direction of the contest posters and other advertising collateral, authoring a successful grant proposal, communication with school officials, negotiating with printers to print the winning designs on real snowboards, recruiting snowboard industry and design industry judges, delegation to members of the student group (Foundry 301), working with AIGA to provide advertising, getting sponsors and prizes, obtaining a great venue for the awards reception (VSA Colorado/Access Gallery) and gallery show, and more!
I was also able to assist with getting our first and second place winning designs added to the Oz Snowboards new 2015 line. Awesome!
